Handcrafted Pieces
Every piece in our collection is lovingly handcrafted by our skilled artisans, blending traditional techniques with timeless design. Using premium natural rattan and bamboo, each creation carries the unique imprint of the maker's hands - where slight variations in weave and texture aren't imperfections, but rather signatures of authentic craftsmanship. From initial design to final finishing touches, our makers pour their expertise into every curve and joint, ensuring heirloom-quality pieces that bring natural warmth and artisanal character to your space.
Sustainable by Design
We work in harmony with nature, using rapidly renewable rattan and bamboo - materials that regenerate faster than traditional hardwoods. Our designs celebrate the raw beauty of these natural fibers while ensuring minimal environmental impact.
From harvest to workshop, we prioritize ethical sourcing and zero-waste techniques. Natural variations in the material are preserved rather than perfected, reducing energy-intensive processing.
🌱 Responsible Materials
Sustainably harvested rattan that supports forest biodiversity.
🌱Low-Impact Production
Handcrafted using traditional methods that require minimal energy.
🌱Built to Last
Timeless designs made for generations, not seasons.
🌱Full Circle
Biodegradable materials that return gently to the earth.
Heirloom Quality, Ethically Made
At Rattanology, we believe true craftsmanship transcends time. Our pieces are designed to be heirloom quality—meticulously crafted with premium, sustainably sourced materials, built to endure decades of use while retaining their beauty and function. Each creation embodies timeless design, ensuring it remains cherished across generations rather than discarded with passing trends.
But longevity alone is not enough. Ethically made is at the heart of everything we do. From the hands that crafted our rattan to the forests that supply our materials, we uphold integrity at every step:
🌱Responsible Sourcing
Our rattan is harvested sustainably, ensuring ecosystems thrive and local communities benefit.
🌱Artisan Empowerment

The Founders
Rattanology were founded by Bill and Nory Mae Parry, a dynamic couple whose passion for mid-century furniture evolved from dealing rare pieces to designing their own. They previously owned Midcenturyandco. For years, they sourced and restored iconic designs, developing a deep understanding of form and function. Inspired by the timeless craftsmanship they admired, they launched their own line, blending classic mid-century aesthetics with modern innovation. Today, their creations pay homage to the past while pushing the boundaries of contemporary design.
The Design Studio
Meet the Minds Behind Rattanology: Billy & Nory’s Hands-On Design Philosophy.
At Rattanology, sustainability and craftsmanship begin with our founders—Billy and Nory, the creative force behind every design. Unlike distant designers who outsource their vision, they are deeply hands-on at every stage:
1. Designing with Purpose
Billy and Nory don’t just sketch ideas—they work directly with materials, testing weaves, bends, and finishes to ensure each piece balances beauty, function, and eco-consciousness.
Their process:
Material-first thinking: Designs adapt to rattan’s natural strengths, not forced into unnatural forms.
Waste-not ethos: Every scrap is repurposed—offcuts become smaller decor items or sample prototypes.
2. Prototyping in the Workshop
You’ll find them side-by-side with artisans, tweaking proportions by hand. A lamp's curve might be adjusted three times in rattan before the design is finalized—because they believe:
"If it doesn’t feel right in the hands, it won’t feel right in the home."
3. Sustainable Decisions at Every Turn
From choosing plant-based stains to engineering modular designs that ship flat (reducing emissions), their oversight ensures sustainability isn’t just a label—it’s woven into the DNA of each product.
4. Your Home, Their Pride
When you unbox a Rattanology piece, you’re receiving:
✔ A design personally approved by Billy or Nory (they test every final product)
✔ A numbered tag with the maker’s and designer’s initials
✔ Care instructions handwritten by the team
"We don’t just want you to love our designs—we want you to feel the care that built them."
The Workshop
At the heart of Rattanology lies its vibrant workshop, a space where creativity, craftsmanship, and passion come together to bring beautiful rattan furniture to life. The workshop isa hub of innovation, where skilled artisans transform natural rattan into exquisite, handcrafted pieces that reflect both tradition and modern design.
The dedicated team at Rattanology’s workshop is the backbone of the company’s success. Comprising six talented individuals, each member brings their unique expertise to the table. The team includes three highly skilled furniture makers who meticulously shape and assemble each piece with precision and care. Complementing their work is a gifted weaver, who expertly crafts intricate patterns and details, adding a touch of artistry to every creation. Supporting the production process are two adept machinists, who ensure efficiency and quality by operating specialized equipment and maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship.
Together, this close-knit team collaborates seamlessly, combining their skills and passion to produce furniture that is not only functional but also a true work of art. Their shared commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation is what makes Rattanology’s workshop a place where exceptional rattan furniture is born.
